The Menopausal Stage
When a woman reaches the age between 45 and 60, expect the natural occurence of aging, end of menstrual flow, and stopping of production of estrogens. But did you know that women reaching the menopausal stage are at risk of getting osteoporosis and heart disease?
In this stage, women are more likely to suffer from osteoporosis or the thinning of the bones. This rapid change occurs due to the loss of estrogen in the body. Other factors that increase the risk of this illness are vices, such as cigarette smoking, family history, slim body built and race (Caucasian or Asian).
Meanwhile, heart disease is the leading cause of death in menopausal women under this stage. Lessened estrogen production in the body leads to a higher level or bad cholesterol and blood pressure that can cause heart failure. Also, factors such as obesity, diabetes, cigarette smoking and sedentary lifestyle can contribute to the disease.
Certain medications and healthy lifestyle can reduce the risk of suffering from such kinds of diseases. More intake of calcium and proper cardiovascular exercises matters most.
